Our Story.
We are rooted in community, compassion, and lived experiences.
Recovery in Community of the San Juans (RIC) is a grassroots nonprofit and registered 501(c)(3) based in the San Juan Islands. We believe that no one should have to face addiction or mental health challenges alone, especially during a moment of crisis.
With the help of a countywide team of volunteers, we work to break down barriers and connect people to the care and support they need, when and where they need it most.
Our work includes providing rides to and from off-island treatment, walking alongside people through the recovery process, offering peer advocacy, and supporting temporary recovery housing. We meet people where they are, both geographically and emotionally, and offer help that is compassionate, respectful, and free of shame or stigma.
Recovery in Community is powered by volunteers, peer leaders, and a committed board who share deep connections to the islands and lived experience with recovery. Together, we are building a stronger local network of care that offers not just services, but a path forward grounded in dignity, compassion, and hope.
