Need a Ride to Treatment?

Recovery Rides. Traveling to Treatment, Together.

Leaving the islands for recovery help should not prevent you from getting treatment. Recovery Rides removes the stress of getting to care. We provide free accompanied transportation from the San Juan Islands to an approved inpatient detox or substance use treatment center on the mainland and back again.

Each ride is coordinated by our team and includes a trained volunteer who will go along with you on your journey.

What We Do.

  • We provide accompanied rides from the San Juan Islands to approved inpatient detox or substance use treatment centers on the mainland.

  • Every ride includes a trained RIC volunteer who offers support throughout the journey. You won’t be alone.

  • We help with logistics like ferry schedules and coordination with treatment providers, so the process feels less overwhelming.

  • We ask for at least 48 to 72 hours' notice to arrange transportation. This helps us match you with a volunteer and ensure a safe, supported trip.

What We Don’t Do.

  • We don’t provide unaccompanied rides. All clients must travel with a RIC volunteer or peer advocate for safety and support.

  • We don’t offer transportation to general medical appointments unless they’re directly related to substance use treatment or a co-occurring mental health condition.

  • We’re not a taxi or general transportation service. Our focus is on recovery-related needs, and our capacity is limited.

Eligibility and Referrals.

  • Our services are free for all eligible clients, thanks to the support of our community and our dedicated volunteers.

  • We serve people who live in San Juan County and are currently in, or seeking substance use treatment.

  • We coordinate with treatment teams to make sure each ride is safe and aligned with your recovery plan.
